GDF Clinics

Date: August 21 & 22, 2010

INSTRUCTOR:  Mike Huber is well known as a National and International 3-Day Event rider.  He represented the United States in the 1978 World Championships, was a member of the US Team at the Alternative Games in Fountainbleu, France in 1980, and in 1983, he finished third individually as a member of the United States Team in a friendly competition in New Zealand.  Mike coached the Area V Young Riders Championships Team in 1984, 1985, 2003, 2004, 2005 and also coached the 1986 Young Rider Champion, John Staples.  In 1987, Mike won the Individual and Team Gold Medals in the 3-Day Event at the Pan American Games.  He placed 2nd at the CCI*** at Stockholm, and 10th and 16th at Badminton in 1989.  In 1990, he finished 18th in the World Championships in Stockholm.  In 1994, Mike and his horse, Hoopoe, represented the United States at the World Equestrian Games at The Hague.  He is a graduate A Pony Clubber, and has served as president of the USCTA, a former member of the USET Selection Committee, and is now the V.P. of Eventing for the USET Foundation, where he helped orchestrate successful World Championships and Olympic Games results. In 2005 Mike was certified Level IV in the USEA Instructor’s Certification Program and his students won the NAYRC ** Individual Gold medal and Team Gold at the **. His * Team were the silver medalists.
 Clinic Format:  The clinic is directed toward all jumping phases of Eventing.  The first day will be flat work, gymnastics and stadium jumping; the second day will be cross-country.  Groups will be approximately six riders, and will run for one and one-half to two hours.
Level of Instruction:           

          • Beginner Novice - jumps 2' 6"  (Introduction to Eventing for horse & rider)
          • Novice - jumps 2' 9" to 3'
          • Training - jumps 3' 3"
          • Preliminary/Intermediate - jumps 3' 7" /3’9”

Auditing:  Goose Downs students are encouraged to audit. All other auditors are by invitation of the organizer only.  Please call the office (466-8771) if you would like to attend.
Riding Schedule:  Will be available Wednesday  August 18, 2010.  Please call 466-8771 between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM for your ride time.
Clinic Enrollment:  Slots are available on a first come, first serve basis.  Applications not accompanied by a check and a copy of 12 month neg. Coggins will be considered incomplete and WILL BE RETURNED.
Refunds:  Refunds will be made ONLY if your place can be filled from the waiting list.

Please note: Clinic participants are expected to ride the same horse throughout the clinic, and to be properly prepared for instruction. ASTM/SEI SAFETY HELMET WITH CHIN STRAP FASTENED IS REQUIRED WHILE MOUNTED. Protective vests are required for the Cross Country portion, and recommended for the show jumping.
